Sparkling Wine: Tuffeau, Blanc de Blancs Nature

Domaine Plou, located on the banks of the Loire River, has been owned by the same family since 1508, just a few years before Leonardo da Vinci arrived at the nearby Château d’Amboise. The name of this cuvée, ‘Tuffeau’ refers to the creamy white stone, so typical of this part of the Loire Valley, which makes for beautiful buildings as well as crisp, mineral and balanced sparkling wines. Delicious, crisp sparkling wine with lovely clean apple fruits, finishing dry.

A fantastic option for those interested in trying a wine resembling orange wine, without its full, rich expression. This wine is medium bodied with interwoven herbal, floral and mineral components yet still retains its fruit notes; mainly peach, apple and orange zest. The grapes are manually harvested, then crushed, after which they are macerated (contact with the skins) for 7 days. Bottled without filtering and with minimal use of sulfites.

Château de Beaucastel has long been regarded as one of the greatest wines in France. It is notorious for its elegance, balance and ageing potential. Beaucastel has an exceptional terroir at the Northern limit of Châteauneuf du Pape, exposed to the Mistral wind. This 2017 vintage will be remembered as the year of all records: the driest year in 30 years, non-interventionist vineyard work, optimal harvest conditions, a very small yield due to climatic hazards, and wines with very rich potential. The 2017 vintage has a deep colour. The pure and elegant nose suggests cherries, blackcurrants, spices, with floral notes, aromatic herbs such as bayleaf, and chocolate. The mouth is elegant, the tannins are ripe and fine, beautifully dense and concentrated structure, a seductive velvety texture enhanced with finely spicy fruit. The finish is long, held by elegant and coated tannins, harmonious and very persistent with fruit, spice & floral notes.
